St. Lawrence River Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) flow data near Cornwall, Ontario 2022

As part of the sediment stability study in the priority area (Areas of Concern) of St Laurent River near Cornwall,

ADCP instruments were deployed during the summer of 2022 to collect the flow data in the river.

The data collection program is part of GLAP. The field experiments were carried out during May 17 to July 28 of 2022.

Two facing up ADCPs used to collect the river discharge data were deployed on the bottom of the river in deeper water area (closer to the middle of the river). Two looking down high resolution Aquadopps were also deployed one meter above the river bed for measuring flow velocity vertical profiles in the bottom layer.

The data from one Aquadop was lost due to instrument malfunction. The measured flow data will be used for validation of three dimensional hydrodynamic model and for bed shear stress calculations.
