Values and Ethics Code of the Department of Justice

In accordance with section 6 of the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act (PSDPA), the Values and Ethics Code of the Department of Justice (the Code) sets out the values and ethics that guide public servants at the Department in all their professional activities. It also provides a set of guidelines and principles to support ethical behaviour and decision making for all public servants. The Code outlines the values and expected behaviours that guide public servants in the Department in all activities related to their professional duties. The Code provides guidance for common situations involving our work at the Department. It is expected that the employee will comply to the following values described in the code: Respect for Democracy, Respect for People, Integrity; Stewardship and Excellence. The code also provides supplementary documents addressing Conflicts of interest and Post-Employment, and the Duties and Obligations that Managers, Public Servants, the Minister and the Deputy Ministers are expected to abide by in relation to the Values and Ethics Code when working at the Department.
