Novel Food Information – 2'-fucosyllactose (2'-FL) from Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) Strain #1540

Health Canada has notified Jennewein Biotechnologie, GmbH, that it has no objection to the use of 2'-fucosyllactose (2'-FL) derived from a genetically modified strain of E. coli BL21 (DE3), "the production strain" or "the strain", as an ingredient for infant formula. The Department conducted a comprehensive assessment of this oligosaccharide according to its Guidelines for the Safety Assessment of Novel Foods.
