A multilateral maritime safety convention adopted under the International Maritime Organization establishing a uniform legal framework for the prompt and effective removal of hazardous shipwrecks. The Convention sets out the rights and obligations of States and shipowners regarding wreck reporting, locating, marking, and removal operations in order to reduce risks to navigation and the marine environment.
