Building a National Strategy for Drugs for Rare Diseases: What We Heard from Canadians

Canadians with rare diseases want access to drugs that could help manage and treat their conditions. Those drugs, however, can be extremely expensive. Advisory Council on the Implementation of National Pharmacare recommended creating a national strategy for providing fair, consistent and evidence-based access for patients to these specialized drugs. In response, the Government of Canada made a commitment to work with provinces, territories and other partners to create a national strategy for drugs for rare diseases.
