The current document is a compilation of publications on permafrost work led by the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) or work that the GSC was directly involved in. Publications containing permafrost-related data are identified, as well as those publications with data housed within the Permafrost Information Network database. Publication years in this list span from 1955 to present.
The compilation mainly uses the GEOSCAN database (https://ostrnrcan-dostrncan.canada.ca/handle/1845/60977) through the NRCan Open S&T Repository (https://ostrnrcan-dostrncan.canada.ca/home), the bibliographic database for scientific publications of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). Overall, the GEOSCAN database features over 98,000 publication records primarily of the earth sciences (Geological Survey of Canada, National Atlas, Topographic maps, Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation, Remote Sensing and Geodesy, and Surveyor General), and is continually growing with records on energy efficiency, metals, minerals and mining. GEOSCAN also contains records on external publications authored by NRCan scientists and specialists or with NRCan support.
Other key sources of permafrost data not housed by GEOSCAN are included in the list, including key scientific publications, authoritative data sources. The current list and associated information is a work in progress and may unintentionally omit publications.
