Forest stands - Forillon

This dataset focuses on the status of forest stands and is used to monitor changes in this ecosystem, which makes up 95% of the Park. Considering the area’s history of logging, this monitoring is particularly important. The dominance of species, the internal structure of the stands and the rate of decomposition are the three field sub-measurements used to establish this measurement. For the first two sub-measurements, data from the 100 plots are collected in the summer over a 10-year cycle, 25 per year for 4 consecutive years. Only tree species are sampled. All living trees, whether standing or fallen, are measured. In the case of dead trees, only those that are still standing are measured. With respect to the decay rate, data from 10 stations are collected every three years.
