Economic multipliers are used to assess the impacts on the economy of an exogenous change in final demand or output of a given industry. Impacts are estimated in terms of total output, gross domestic product, employment and labour income. These multipliers reflect the structure of the Alberta economy and industry linkages during the reference year. Each publication contains multipliers specific to various industries and commodities for two models: the "Open" model covers direct and indirect impacts while the "Closed" model covers direct, indirect and induced impacts. Please note that the 2022 Alberta Input-Output models and multipliers are based on the 2022 classification. In the 2022 Supply and Use Tables, Statistics Canada implemented the 2022 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) and the North American Product Classification System (NAPCS). In the new classification structure, there are 220 industries and 273 commodities. The new classification affected the data for some industries and commodities.
