The [Air Quality Index] (https://www.iqa.environnement.gouv.qc.ca/contenu/index.asp) (AQI) statistics show how many days and hours the AQI is “good,” “acceptable,” or “bad.” The data file contains two tabs presenting results for different periods: annual and monthly. The results can be viewed in two units of measurement:
- Hours: The results are based on hourly values from the Air Quality Index and correspond to the number of hours of observation per year and per month.
- Days: The results are based on the maximum hourly value of the air quality index during a day and correspond to the number of observation days per year and per month.
These statistics are calculated with [validated hourly air quality index data] (https://www.donneesquebec.ca/recherche/dataset/rsqaq-donnees-horaires-indice-qualite-air). The [Air Quality Index Statistics] dashboard (https://www.iqa.environnement.gouv.qc.ca/contenu/index.asp) allows you to visualize these results.
The IQA is an information and awareness tool designed to inform the population about the quality of ambient air in Quebec.
