Extreme heat events

English: The Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) program provides data and information to track Canada's performance on key environmental sustainability issues. The Extreme heat events indicator reports the percentage of stations with trends in the cumulative number of days per year under extreme heat conditions and the daytime and overnight intensity (number of degrees above the extreme heat threshold). As climate change continues, occurrences and intensities of extreme heat events are expected to increase, with adverse impacts on human health, the environment and the economy. Information is provided to Canadians in a number of formats including: static maps, charts and graphs, HTML and CSV data tables and downloadable reports. See the supplementary documentation for the data sources and details on how the data were collected and how the indicator was calculated.
