Continuing Care Accommodation Standards compliance reporting

Alberta Health oversees the licensing and compliance monitoring of continuing care homes and supportive living accommodations. Alberta Health assures adherence to the requirements and expectations set out in the Continuing Care Act, its regulations, and the associated accommodation and health service standards. Eligible continuing care homes and supportive living accommodations are monitored to assure compliance with these accommodation standards. The Accommodation Standards aim to ensure high-quality services (e.g. meals, building maintenance, security and housekeeping) that promote the safety, security and quality of life of Albertans in these living environments. Continuing care homes Type A and B are also monitored for compliance to the Continuing Care Health Service Standards, a set of legislated, minimum standards that operators must comply with in the provision of health care (e.g. medication management, care planning, staff training). Alberta Health currently reports publicly on the results of monitoring visits in Continuing Care Homes and Supportive Living Accommodations across the province at http://standardsandlicensing.alberta.ca.
