A web application containing information on animal samples requested for rabies testing in Manitoba since the province took over the rabies program on April 1, 2014. As of April 1, 2014, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is no longer involved in the management of rabies cases in Manitoba. The provincial rabies management program is now coordinated by Manitoba Rabies Central, a collaborative group bringing together the ministries of Health, Seniors and Active Living, Agriculture and Conservation, and Climate in Manitoba. Samples for the detection of rabies in the event of human and animal exposure to an animal suspected of having this disease are requested respectively by the Ministry of Health, Seniors and Active Living and the Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry of Agriculture coordinates the collection of a sample from the animal suspected of having rabies. This information will be updated quarterly.
