The Program for Export Market
Development was started in 1971 to
encourage Canadian companies to enter
export markets or undertake additional
export activities. By sharing the
incurred costs, the Department aids in.
reducing the risk and uncertainty of
exporting. The Crown contribution is
repayable if export efforts are
successful. PEND is a dynamic program
that has expanded and adapted to meet
the changing needs of Canadian companies
in world markets.
3.0 DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM
3.1 Section A - Participation in
Capital Projects Abroad
This section provides an incentivé to
suppliers of Canadian goods and services .
to participate in major international
project's such as the design and
construction of power plants, hotels,
a irports and ha rbour facilities . .
Companies providing engineering,
architectural, management and consulting
services, and suppliers of equipment. are
eligible for cost-elaringsssistance.
The program now consists of six sections
that support a range of marketing
techniques in most world markets.
