Portable pressure loggers can provide temporal variations of river water levels under difficult ice conditions that often prevail during the spring breakup of the ice cover. Such information is used by scientists to study dynamic ice-related processes, including breakup initiation, ice jamming, flooding, and propagation of waves created by ice-jam releases. Portable loggers can also provide redundancy in case permanent hydrometric gauges are rendered temporarily inoperative by moving ice. This dataset comprises late April/early May 2018 water levels near the Water Survey of Canada permanent gauge at Peace Point, which monitors flows that enter the PAD reach of Peace River some 60 km downstream.
